When I began to demand his love for a lifetime, but he refused to pledge it, I left him. Then I saw the pattern imprinted on my skin, on my mind, on my heart, I felt like I was telling my mom everything that I wanted to tell her during childhood, set yourself free, leave him, but I did not put it in words but in the renunciation to myself, then I calmed myself down, understanding, I stood outside myself, looking out in the clear night and I called him. My love, maybe I can't for a lifetime either. How about we'll be happy as long as there is happiness?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
