He is sitting on the chair and he looks exactly like in the icons. Don't be fooled, he said, you only see what you imagine. My mom? She's fine, don't worry. She prays much more for you than for herself. She prays that you'd be healthy, that you'd have a place of work, that she could live for your sake. Dad? I miss him. He visits you in your sleep. He sits on your shoulder or on your forehead. Do you remember that light sphere floating over your bed? Yes, it was a warm and gentle light. I don't know why I got scared. Your time hasn't come yet, he says and he smiles with my father's heavenly eyes.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
