Nobody recalled seeing Marichen any other way than dressed in her black dress with her head covered by a short tail hat. Even if it was freezing or burning, she would not let go of her grieving clothes as if they were her home. Somehow, this was it because of that curse, she would hide her body and her forsaken though either in the shack of the forester, either under God's Heaven. When she fell pregnant with her brother, their father snatched the rifle off the nail and took his life. Go on and ask her about the hat and she will tell you she is not seen even by God under it.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
