Daddy, please, don't die. Here, the good pill. It's from the doctor at the Old Hospital. Don't close your eyes. Oana is here too, mother too. Please, make an effort and take the pill. Yes, daddy, it's all three of us. I promise, I will take care of mother. Here, water. I am tasting it, so that you see it isn't poisoned. Take the pill. We only have one, daddy. It's the good one. It's from the doctor at the Old Hospital. You know you are only given one a month. Please. Dad was only 38 and I needed him. The chalk powder was magical. Dad's 70 now.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
