Tell him he was an idiot, a sucker. Who, lady? A sucker. An idiot. Old lady, with her dirty face and a missing shoe, closed her eyes. Lady, do you have some ID, do you know where you live? With her eyes still closed, she was waving her hand in disgust. A sucker. An idiot. A wretch. The ambulance arrived in a hurry and took the lady which was raving. In front of the hospital the lady opened her eyes. You tell him it was an idiot. a sucker. Lady, to whom to tell? Sighing, the nurse closed the eyes that were looking to nowhere. Time of death 12:04.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2021, the group has 7.000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
