Somebody did something wrong somewhere. I don't know where, perhaps the number of stones is wrong or the number of lumps or the number of years, because I have no place here, pretending to be somebody else, carrying a backpack. I have to be in my right place, to start the rains, to splash through the puddles with Mișu, my dog, to milk the ships with my grandfather and bring home the milk, to feel granny's rough hand on my head and hear her saying look, the leaves started to fall dawn, you should wear a sweater. I'm waiting for somebody to say I'm sorry, there has been an error somewhere. Nobody takes the blame.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2021, the group has 7.150 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
