If you could feel her, would you make her life miserable? Would you concoct a story to be heard so she would forget all about you? Or would you tempt her with a coffee and promise her that you're going to change? He would smile patiently, but it would bring her little finger closer to your forehead. Would your voice tremble when you told her that the luggage is not yet prepared and that you still have dreams in your pockets? Would you beg her to give you more time to think of, no matter her mood? And would you take a deep breath, finding out that there is still time? At least for a coffee and a cigarette.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In September 2021, the group has 7.150 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
