When you left, I couldn't open it, I was afraid to find out why you ran away with dew in your eyes, I wanted to have at least your fingerprints on a scented paper, I left it there, yellowed for a long time on the walnut wood, I thought I would break into pieces if I touched it, I put books over it, up to the ceiling, today the storm slammed the nightstand door, a loose sheet floated in slow-motion through the room, I held my breath, a line kissed with lipstick blinded me: let's play us us, look for me, if you wish to have me.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
