In the year with a 13 at the end, during Valentine's Sunday, they had a copious lunch, had even drank some red wine. They had gotten tipsy and had wild sex, possibly the best of their lives, on the living room couch. He stood, looked at her and had a realisation. He took off his wedding ring and put it on her middle finger, next to her the ring finger bearing their 21-year-old wedding ring. His gesture was more complete than any other Goodbye. She dressed up, took his workbag and left. He didn't know where to.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
