I had hoped, like a fool, that you'd marry me. For five years I have been crazy in love with you. Please never look for me again. Game over. After the last fullstop, I ran to his apartment and threw the letter into his mailbox. In the late evening, he turned up at my door holding a bouquet of flowers. I happily jumped into his arms, begging him to never leave me again. I asked him to destroy the letter. What letter? he asked. It seems that I've put the letter in the wrong mailbox. His neighbours are divorcing right now.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
