I know you've heard it before. Too many times, perhaps. But this time it's different, this time it's really over. So many promises and dreams I've been long waiting to achieve. I've waited long enough. I'm aware that you'll never give up on her - you've said so too many times before. I don't give me that look - you know I can't fight that. But this time I'm leaving for real and you shall never see me again. Did you get that? Well then? Aren't you going to ask me to stay? Just make me one more promise, anything.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
