I married the most powerful man on the planet. Sometimes I feel him slip out of bed and disappear somewhere for a few hours. Last night I watched him. He came down a flight of stairs, went into a room, then disappeared behind a bookcase. After a few minutes, I went in after him. Toys and lollipops were scattered everywhere. From a wooden horse, he was watching Tom and Jerry. When he saw me, he pulled a gun on me. I hit him over the head with the lamp. He died instantly. How was I supposed to know that was a water pistol?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
