I was born on stage, in cheering. The spotlight heat burnt my umbilical cord, and I came off my mother, rolling down to the fog machine. My father watched me from the first row, while the orchestra played and the curtain fell on my little body. I crawled on the 12th night and took the first steps into the cherry orchard. I first spoke on a streetcar named desire. When I was sick, I would stay with uncle Vanya. I fell in love in a midsummer night and then I died. Oh, how wonderful were those days.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
