I have to send the sample video today. Where should I film myself? In the kitchen. The light is better, but it's a mess in there. Whatever, nobody will notice the background. But they'll notice the mood. Arrghh. Nevermind. Be quiet for a sec, I'm filming something, ok? Dang, look at those dark circles around my eyes. Let me put on some concealer. I'll apply it like in that tiktok I saw, in an upside down triangle. That's how life works when you're in your 40s. You no longer do it like in your 20s. How stupid I was in my 20s. Naïve, call it as you like. Stupid. Be quiet, I'm filming. My lipstick's smudged. I'll fix it. That's it. Lights. Camera. Mommy, done poo poo.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In October 2021, the group has 7.275 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
