I put an x on the last square that outlined my character. And I decided. To be content to live. And I saw it was good. And I decided again. To be unhappy that I'm just living. And again I saw that it was good. Implied decisions made me lonely. I decided. To defy that I'm unhappy, that I'm just living. Nothing original. I revolt. Satisfied, dissatisfied, outraged, I rush on the ten-centimeter-wide beam to the world. I'm in progress. And on the seventh day, I rested and saw that he was well.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In November 2021, the group has 7.500 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
