There's a big crowd in the courtroom lobby. In front of the high doors, full of announcements, a lot of people in a hurry and worried are waiting. On a bench, calm and smiling, a gray-haired gentleman in a green coat and a very elegant lady with purple hair are drinking coffee and eating biscuits. Let the accused enter, file 423. Hello, are you divorced again? Hello, every March, Your Honor. Then we remarry every May. April is the time of longing, so that is how we go on together. For 25 years.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
