I see the small black lace, carelessly dropped on the floor and a thought strikes me: she's got a surprise waiting for me in the bedroom. And I follow my thought and, yes, the bra, also black, also laced, was just a step further away, and the bedroom door ajar. I run back out, in the street, I buy a bottle of red wine and then I'm right back at the bedroom door. I hear my wife from behind me, with a sour voice: Goddamned drunk, you know well enough how to buy booze, but you can't manage to hang up some laundry without scattering it through the house.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
