It's been creaking since yesterday. Since then I've been laying in bed, still in street clothes, all cold, half-awake, letting the time pass me by. I don't know exactly why or how. Yesterday I was happily walking into the house, dropping my shoes off in the hallway, hanging my coat, and going into the living room. He came in from the balcony, furiously shut the door behind him, he said he was in love with Eva and that he was leaving. I can't live without you, I moaned, with my dignity abolished. You have a solution, he pointed to the half-open door of the balcony.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
