After I attended a place of worship for long enough, I would like to go home. I am referring to the worship of Bacchus, to be precise. I'm walking, stiff as a wooden horse, as my stomach's bouncing like a ping-pong ball, dazing my oral cavity with a combine liquid reflux: wine, liqueur, brandy, beer, rum. I get home through the open door and get undressed, leaving only the atypical boxers, sort of a kolkhozian underwear. I take them off because I want to go to the bathroom, and then I hear: Next station - Timpuri Noi / Modern Times, exit right.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
