And I felt like an old fighter between two deserts, under winds that tore up tents and shattered romances that were kept under shields. I broke the cold with the blood of the twilight heart and I rotated the colours of the water of thoughts in the only good sense I knew. Towards me, the foul madness of the wind that could no longer put me down. Because I have my soul on my belt, brighter than the shotgun that struck the fur of the pathetic racoon dog. I throw the trophy to the wounded people of my fights and I keep going, I know how to swim.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
