My marital life was saved. He kept butting in during my daily chores for a while now. No rest. Only a Bed of Procrustes with covers made of orphaned socks and forced labour. Why are you whining? Making a bit of food or doing a little dusting is nothing, he told me. Yeah? I'll show you mister. And so I skipped over to mom. After a month I found him drowning himself in boxes of pizza with a howl of wind coming from the empty fridge and a shirt claiming to look white. From the door, he said to me in a feeble tone: Mommy, I got 101 heroic dreams for you.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
