I'm skipping two three steps at a time, music blasting in my headphones, I open the door of the block with a slam of my foot, go ahead, I scream at the cloudy sky and I twirl around in the rain, I breath in the morning air with flared nostrils, I greet the trolley full of sleepy people with a reverence, I bite the smile of a pretzel from the patisserie and it pouts back, it is a perfect day to be happy, I say, it's Friday and I am already in love with the girl I will meet tonight and there is nothing inappropriate in it (yet).

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
