We both knew and lived with the withdrawal, trying to quit but none of us could. Even though we were sitting at the same table, eating till we hit the raving of satiety with the fruits from the gardens within us, we were struggling too damn hard. The next minute I stood up so hungry in the lying picnic on our valleys and on our hills that I was stealing and hiding crumbs of you inside my handkerchief, I was hunting them at night and the thoughts and longing of you were beating me up. Our plumb was the heaviness of helplessness to give up on our hunger for ourselves.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In January 2022, the group has 7.830 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
