Leave them like that. Well, we have to take them to the morgue, inform their families. Don't move anyone. I'll tell you know what to tell the relatives. I want to make a symbol of love of these young people. The city has been dead since I can remember, it doesn't have a story. Don't mind me, but they didn't know each other. They crossed randomly and were smashed by a heavy-goods vehicle loaded with mineral water. I know, that's why I'm asking you to let the driver get away. We will do something extraordinary. I'll talk to Fane, the one who writes on the tomb stones, to write a bestseller.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2022, the group has 7,950 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
