When I grow up, I want to be an astronaut. I'd go to that little star that's staring at your nose. Do you think there are beings there? There are, look at how they're walking around the corners. Do they know that we're talking about them? Of course they know. They're looking at us through the stellar telescope and say to themselves: do you see those two children sitting at night in the grass in the ditch in front of the gate, talking about us? They will never part. Come on, what the hell are you talking about? And you know what else they say: she pushes him and laughs, but deep down she knows we're right.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2022, the group has 7,950 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
