Once they got near the water, they stopped for a bit to praise God's name, look, can you see how the steam merges with the crystal water? And look at the coots! At five o'clock in the morning, all is pure and unspoiled by the dust of day. The silence is out of this world. Oh, its father is a bad ass guy, how he took care of all the things, screw it. Look at the sun. They threw away their fishing reels almost at the same time, two meters apart, the rafts swayed on the waves. His hand hurt, he took out fish after fish. Hey, Moses, stop, you jealous.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2022, the group has 7,950 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
