The last day had passed, you should rest, my dear, the goodbye hugs were bearable, I had thrown away the gift for the retiring, everything had gone according to the plan. At two o'clock the car arrived with its headlights off, the cages had been opened and closed, and at four o'clock the plane took off, we abord it. At the end of the road, when everybody scattered around, we sat together on the withered grass and took a deep breath with our hearts. Sheba, the big lioness, looked me in the eyes as it used to do when it was a cub. Let's go, I smiled at it, show me your home, as I have promised.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In February 2022, the group has 7,950 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
