Do you think we could see each other if we took off all of our words? If I prayed to demons and you to angels, would we meet in the middle? With whom will you team up to sniff out the light, if not with me? Sightless eyes that read stories on the skin, deaf to hear our blood pulsing, mute to touch our tongues. Oh, the great sin of the forbidden desire. Not here, not now, not so. There will always be a NO. But there's nothing more heavenly than loving someone, so, come on, admit it, to feel that you're alive, you have to take a bite out of me now.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
