He accepted His game and entered the hall of mirrors with a struggling soul. He clenched his fists tightly, digging his fingernails into the flesh to blood, reddening the moment. Images pinned into thousands of shapes evoking pains, lies, love affairs, hatred, sins I ever lived. 10 commandments? He had broken them 7 times by 70. But the heaviest burden was falling into the depth of the abyss of refusing to care for himself. As he set free his soul, the stained-glass windows conveyed a vibrant chromatic in the Dim Light. Do you regret it? I regret it. Penance? Forgive yourself. Live yourself.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
