Andra woke up with a smile on her face and ran to see what gift she had received. It was the morning of Santa Nicholas and she had her booties ready from the night before. Great joy: in her booties was a gorgeous doll with a whole wardrobe to match. Our little girl played with the doll all day, her parents could barely get her to eat anything. In the evening she put the doll back in the bootie, that's where it belonged. Now be quiet, please, our dolls are fast asleep, one in the bed and one in the bootie.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
