Mom, do you remember how in second grade you took me to zefir general store to get me a faux fur coat for school on december 27th because you'd gotten your pay check and you said that santa (our romanian fake one) left something for me and i broke away from your hand to get home fast so that dad can see me and i fell in a puddle of melted snow on the armeniș street and you didn't beat me but you cried on the way home and dad laughed when we got home and i never gave you a fur coat so now you're wearing a coat made out of eco-wood?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
