We had my first night of genuine love. We've known each other for a while. We were teasing each other, accepting our very existence. You were subtly concealing your insecurity, fragility. Lest you'd be rejected. You appeared gilded in clothing that didn't suit you. People applauded in admiration. Some would ask you the address of the designer. You were laughing, apparently blissful. You called me last night. You confessed that you had changed the Tailor. You were absolutely radiant, in your white simple shirt, through which one could see the red heart. We looked at each other, felt each other, loved each other. We are one.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
