We lie on the couch and watch a movie on Netflix. We eat popcorn. We don't touch each other, absorbed by the action of the film. It's a love scene and I realize it's been a week since your last outburst. I look at you lovingly. Passion turned into tenderness. The red has faded. We hold hands on the street, as before. But I can no longer feel your finger caressing the palm of my hand. You're still kissing me. I like your tongue. And your lips. Oh. The girl in the movie moans. I remember. Now I'm wearing panties under my skirts. That's too bad.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
