I'm a worker ant. I belong to a huge ant colony that has its smaller and more specialized subdivisions. Morning sister ant. No answer. I take no offence, we don't even know each other. We're all the same, just handling different tasks. At times, some of us grow wings and take flight. It makes sense, they provide added value. But I don't want to take flight, I have a fear of heights. I usually walk head down on the long corridors- no sunlight makes its way here. I don't ask questions either, I work. I'm just confused by the fact that the figure who's always behind my back has the shape of a boot sole.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
