She glanced through the grocery store window one more time. She was nervous, rubbing a handkerchief between her palms and nearly shredding it. She hadn't been on a date in so long, neither was she getting any younger, nor more beautiful. She was a bit past her own time, so her cousin's phone call was unexpected. She already threw in the towel, but oh the man was persistent! What do you got to lose? He's a good man, doesn't drink, doesn't smoke, and yet, he seems to have one minor flaw: he's a corpo. And yeaaah, maybe over a hundred. And 5'5. Other than that, quite the catch.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
