Back then I loved you with such thirst, a drop of water had appeared at the tip of every hair on your head. They would materialize, cling heavily and fall. And I would wait as if I were a child, tongue sticking out, to catch the raindrops. People wondered, look at the water rising, but they wondered calmly, without fear. And you, with those naughty breasts of yours, such beautiful breasts, would split the wave's fine sheet in two. Hey, no swimming allowed in the street, the policeman said. We took our dolphins and left.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In March 2022, the group has 8,050 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
