My doctor says she can heal me. I just have to want it. I want it, so I threw myself high up and I became one with the earth, so I could get a grip. I didn't manage to, but the taste of grass was nice. I slung myself to the sky again, at night, but I came back riding the tail of a comet, welded back in place. I yank myself out of my body again and I fly to the Milky Way, managing to cling onto the stars. Down below I see the Earth rotating back, back, until I spot myself waiting for me on the grass. I shove two stars into my pocket and I float back, towards myself, who waits for me.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2022, the group has 8,175 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
