Life would have been easier if you were a clay pot, his mother told him, but Stana did not want to be a clay pot, she slammed the door behind her and the whole porch was filled with tears. I'm a golden vessel, she grunted, she's made of clay by Ana and ugly by Maria, and even by Artemis the fool. Stana Bradu saw her on her way and the road took her farther and farther from the porch house. The man chooses the chicken, he also extends his hand to the clay pot, this is what Stana understands now that there are a few drops of sky on the bottom of the golden pot.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2022, the group has 8,175 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
