I didn't know how to describe my path. No one will do my biography, and life has only given me as much as I can take. That's how I like to lie, every morning in the mirror of the room soaked in the smell of tobacco. A captive old man looks at me in a still young body that thaws his soul like a beggar who suddenly arrives in Hell, impassive, uninterested in his previous life. I will be there, a gloomy sinner, dripping life into the gray hourglass. This record will self-destruct in 3, 2, 1.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In April 2022, the group has 8,175 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
