Yes, aunt Nela, what now? What did you find out this time? YoGeta, can you put that damned book down? The life should go through you first and then through those words. Yo, if I don't go out and I don't hear the news, I wither. My drunkard sent me to get him fuel from Mioara Cârtiță (Mole's Sheep, in a word-for-word translation), the one made of plums, one liter. I found the door closed and a candle flickering on top of the cellar. 5 bent shadows murmured something. One of them says - you should bring Balzac, he knows the woman well, in 5 minutes we will know everything about her, even the breast she sucked on. I'm impatient, what do we do?

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In May 2022, the group has 8,350 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
