a child is crying, in another one, a mother is kissing the forehead of her little angel. In a parallel universe, an old man is begging for a bread crust, and in another one, a baker is throwing out the bags with bread left over that day. In a parallel universe, there is war, in another people are sleeping with no worries. In the parallel one, a man is hitting a woman, and in another one, a smitten young man is putting a ring on his girlfriend's finger. In the parallel one, people are killed by viruses, and in another people are pre-ordering clones. Beyond all of them, one God is twiddling his thumbs, helplessly.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2022, the group has 8,500 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
