Do you remember when we used to come here to eat cherries? Now you have your own cherry tree and a bench so we could sit and chat. Yes, I know that my curls are white now, maybe from the steam of the train when I walked you to the train station. Don't look for my eyes, they aren't there anymore. They're worn out. Better yet, tell me, what would it be like to get married and all your friends that are here with you know come to the wedding? But firstly, do you want to finish my half-painted portrait? But that's why I come here, so you could add some color. But don't ask anymore because I don't know who shot you.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In June 2022, the group has 8,500 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
