V5, entrance B, the sidewalk with a missing a tile and an exhibitionist in the shadows; the concrete walls I would crash into when dreaming at night, until I broke my power of acceptance, that my mom had to make me splints out of her ribs, because my father wasn't there. The block doesn't suit this child, madam, he must be left in the wild, where he belongs, yelled the neighbouring lady in a dressing gown, from the second floor, with false compassion, while she was wiping away the smell of freedom from her nose and waved the repulsion of an incomprehensible word from her hair, with which I spat: you, brain blocked.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In July 2022, the group has 8,750 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
