In the last room, the little girl found an unicorn hidden under the blanket. He left his wings next to the bed carved in the last spruce. He was barely breathing. What are you doing here, asked the girl. I don't have a home anymore, he answered wheeping. They cut the whole forest and gave it on nothing. The simplistic furniture is in style, but they don't know our souls are inside it. I followed the example of the outlaws from the past. Nobody's watching out for us anymore, because we are not for sale. Have no fear, darling, I'll grow up.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
