I get into the warm bed, with new linen, among the clouds and silver stars. I wrap myself up to my neck and fall into a deep sleep. I am dreaming of him. I am dressed in a long and flowy blue dress. We are running, holding our hands, through a field of poppies, then, at some point, we stop and lie down in the grass, facing the sky. I feel his warm hand, almost too aggressively leaning against my left shoulder. I take it delicately and put it over my breast. A strange voice is telling me: Wake up, it's closing time. I am leaving the store rested. Tomorrow I will try another bed.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
