I had drawn crooked, slightly shaky sticks. As you looked down on them, they resembled last nights' spaghetti. These damned sticks. I'd start off well, but when it came to the little curve at the top, the damned stick would run off and over the prescribed lines. My hand would clench around the fountain pen as I sweat profoundly. She watches me triumphantly, sticks out her chest and says - see how hard fwist gwade can be?

(In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes every few days. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
