It is strange to enter somebody else's childhood, but this keeps happening recently. Unknown images were popping throug his head: places, faces. A few months ago he was on a waiting list to receive a new heart. The miracle happened. Now when he closes his eyes he can see the snow-covered mountaintops and he can hear a girl's giggle as she gets ready to descend them. Sometimes the flashes scare him, other times he is enthralled by the story, and wouldn't let go. When he was released, the donor's parents told him this: "May you enjoy life as she did".

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
