She had somehow gotten lost in a cornfield. She had grown up surrounded by silky hugs, longing for that sunshine. She was two cubits ahead of them all and was searching the sky as far as the day went for a gesture from him. One day, a little girl winked at her and the father took her to their house, to light up their home. She has watched all night for the wandering souls until one of them, out of suffering, went to the sun. Only was she happy as she clung to the lapel of the soul and flew away.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
