Turn right after the third row of corn, then 30 more steps, or what was it? Oh, damn it, why did he have to make me come here? I got my sandals dirty, this little new dress is full of thistles. Hmm, I wonder if he'll notice how dolled up I got for him. I put my hair in playful braids, I perfumed my cleavage. Damn, I'm beautiful, if I do say so myself. Pretty and beautiful, like my mother used to say. Too bad I've been biting my lips raw. If he thinks I kissed some other guy, I'm finished. No more smooches for you, little Silvia.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
