The old man was dragging his softened time leg to the window, looking at the sky which was foamed with the ashy of the ravens that were crying secretly. He has been feeling watched for the past few days. No one has stepped in his crusty loneliness for three years, since he gave up on his secret life, however, the clopping of the end could be heard more and more aggressively. A short knock at the door made him twitch. He opened the door. A grey woman cut off his head, which rolled across the floor, sticking the silence of death to his ajar eyelid.

Real Fiction is a collective project started in 2013 by Florin Piersic Jr. The concept of Real Fiction continued to exist as a Facebook group, after a volume of stories was published at Humanitas Publishing House. (In August 2022, the group has 9,000 members.) The authors write ultra-short stories, with the texts limited to 500 characters (in Romanian, so the length of the English translation might be a little different) - a flash-fiction exercise on a topic that changes almost daily. The group's coordinators are Florin Piersic Jr., Gabriel Molnar, Răzvan Penescu, and Luchian Abel. (Drawing by Adrian T. Roman)
